Introduction Your success in this class is dependent on being an active learner. An active learner follows the guidelines listed below and gives their best and honest effort in all aspects of the class. The following contains some useful information to help you get started with the school year and to introduce you to my classroom policies.
Accounts and Passcodes You need to have access at any time in class to: 1. EDMODO Account 2. Gmail Account 3. Newsela Account 4. ALS Account 5. Google Classroom Account
Homework Homework must have your name, date, block number, and page number at the right hand side, top corner of the paper. The title or name of the homework must be at the top of the paper. You must always show all your work and if it’s a calculation, circle your answers. Assignments must be neat, legible, and clean. Please try not to fold them. Homework will be collected daily and has to be placed at the correct box by the group leader before the warm-up is finished.
ALS Computer Station Two lessons or assignments must be completed per week and 5 extra credit lessons will be assigned during the semester.
Homework on EDMODO You need to create, if you don’t already have one, a Gmail Account with a school appropriate user name. We will go to the computer lab and you will sign up for an EDMODO account. I will be posting homework and quizzes that you need to complete online as homework.
First: There is a biweekly news article and reflection assignment due on Saturday at midnight. The goal is for you to learn to submit the article in EDMODO. If you find the need to email me, the subject line should read according to your needs. Your message should be formally formatted. Please pay close attention to punctuation and grammar. For example:
Dear Mr. Magallanes, My Name is Poncho Lopez. I am currently enrolled in your block 5 and I am writing this email to turn in my biweekly news article reflection number 2. I hope you find it enlightening.
Poncho Lopez
Second: You are responsible for completing a few Google Forms. They are a series of questions about the chapters that would be covered in class. Don’t forget to click “Submit” at the bottom of the Google Form and expect a “Thank You Box.” If you don’t see that “Thank You Box,” then you need to submit it again.
Third: You are responsible for completing a biweekly quiz at home. You may use your book or notebook to get the answers.
